I thought for sure I’d have more time to write this summer…but just as I never make it through the reading lists I give myself, I’m failing at this as well. It’s nearly August and I’ve hardly written a word here.
This afternoon I returned from what is probably my last family vacation…or by family I mean with my parents and little brother. Every year since I can remember, we’ve gone somewhere fun, interesting, historical…whatever we’re in the mood for that year. This year we went to Victoria, BC and Seattle, WA. If I’m being honest, I wasn’t really all that excited…in my mind, it was Canada. I usually prefer something a bit more tropical to counter my wonderful but Midwest city.
Often at the end of a long trip I’m left torn between wanting to sleep in my own bed and wanting to stay on vacation. But the only reason I wanted to go home this time was to pick up my dog and then take her back to the Pacific Northwest with me. It’s one of the few places I’ve traveled to that I can honestly say I could see myself seriously moving to. And with my pending graduation in May, anything is fair game so I’m happy to add another location to my list to broaden my prospects.
I realize a majority of my blog is spent on the fact that my trademark is that I’m a city girl through and through. Well, Victoria (and Vancouver) and Seattle aren’t up to par with my Chicago but the natural beauty surrounding the cities was enough to send me hiking along a not-so trail with my brother humming tunes from Pocahontas.
Vacation high? Honestly I’m not sure if it’s just a phase or if I have some sort of split personality. I can be sure of one thing: I’m not going camping.
