Goodbye, Junior Year…

Hello Summer!

The spring semester was definitely one of my more difficult semesters so far at UIC. Between difficult classes and my internship, I was always busy, always stressed. But I loved every minute of it. At least I can say that now, as it’s finally summer.

Citygirl Weddings and Events has been such a blessing. I can’t say that enough. I assumed, when applying for internships last fall, that I would be running around answering phones, fetching dry cleaning, and getting coffee. I had no idea that my internship would turn out less like The Devil Wears Prada and more like an actual job. I have learned so much from Shar, watching how she conducts her business. I’m lucky to have such an amazing boss for my first internship. I’ve also learned a lot about myself and what my plans are post-graduation. I’ve managed the Twitter account, sat in on meetings, visited some great venues, and helped with day-of wedding coordination. Overall, it couldn’t have been more successful.

It was so successful, in fact, that I’ve been asked back to continue as a Social Media & Events intern with Citygirl Weddings and Events in the fall! And I repeat, I am so blessed.

Meanwhile, my summer will consist of tweeting for the company (unofficially, from home) and working at a local Dairy Queen. I’m working on buying a new camera so that I can work on photography, a hobby I haven’t had enough time or resources for lately.

Happy Summer!
